Do you remember Cool Runnings?

Do you remember Cool Runnings?

Do you remember the Disney film Cool Runnings, or Rasta Rockett as is popularly known in among Swiss French speakers?  Well it is based the experience of Jamaica’s first bobsleigh team that competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Canada.

Ever since then the Jamaica Bobsleigh Federation has consistently sent teams to the Winter Olympics with mixed but encouraging results.

Fairly recently they launched a women’s programme when Jazmine Fenlator, who competed for the USA at the 2014 Winter Olympics, was recruited.

Joining her is Carrie Russell and in January they won a bronze medal at the North American Cup Bobsleigh and Skeleton competition.

This victory is a significant step toward the team’s goal of going to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The Federation is actively fund raising for this event, which marks 30 years since the team’s Calgary debut.

The 2018 team – Arundel, Anthony, Carrie, Debisha, Jazmine, Jordan, Joel, Kemari, Kirk, Michael, Murray, Surf, Seldwyn, and Tyrone -appreciates your support.
