The Jamaica Biennial 2017

This year’s Jamaica Biennial by the National Gallery of Jamaica just ended after three successful months of exhibition at various venues across the island. The Biennial is the leading visual art event in Jamaica and a high point on the Caribbean fine art calendar. 

This year’s Biennial was also timed to attract the wider international art community’s attention. Artworks by over 49 resident artists and 35 from the diaspora were selected by the National Gallery’s team of curators. 

In addition, 7 guest artists from the Caribbean took part in this event. Artworks included sculpture, painting, textiles and fiber art, photography and new media.  Artists Laura Facey, Katrina Coombs, Stafford Schliefer and Franz Marzouca who are exhibiting at Expérience Jamaïque gallery, participated in this prestigious event.  See if you can recognize any of their artworks in the images below.
